IMHO, I think Gryffindor best aligns with wands because of the optimistic love of action and challenges. Slytherin tends to swords energy, mostly because they value knowledge as power to be used for control and personal gain. Easy-going Hufflepuff align with the placid emotional energy of cups. I was a little stuck 上 how Ravenclaw could be pentacles until I started thinking about Luna Lovegood, our favourite Ravenclaw, and how she sees the magic in the everyday world more clearly than any of the other students, and Rachel Pollack attributes this magic in the everyday world to pentacles. It's even easier to align the various characters with court cards. Harry is definitely an impulsive and impetuous Knight of Swords for me, while studious, ambitious Hermione Granger is the definition of the Page of Pentacles, and emo Ron, lost in his emotions, is clearly a Knight of Cups. 我正沿着心爱的缪斯女神Ri散步 我正沿着心爱的缪斯女神Ri散步deau River, and the perfect reflections of the trees and sky in the water reminded me of the tarot axiom "As Above, So Below." What exactly does that mean, I wondered. I know the Magician evokes it with his arms, and the Hierophant in the way two of his fingers point skyward and two toward earth. But what does it *mean*? So I fell down the rabbit hole that is Google and found out all sorts of neat stuff about Hermetic Principles, and the Principle of Correspondence and some guy named the Thrice-Greatest-Hermes, which pretty much inspired me to be known historically as the Thrice-Greatest-DaniGirl, if not the Second or First greatest. Ahem. So what does "As Above, So Below" actually mean? It means that the macrocosm of the cosmos is reflected in the microcosm of individual experience. And this doesn’t just apply to the manifesting energy of the Magician or even the major arcana; instead, it implies that the entire universe exists within a tarot deck, with each card representing a person, place, or event. As Rachel Pollack explains in 78 Degrees of Wisdom, “The tarot contains a philosophy, an outline of how human consciousness evolves, and a vast compendium of human experience.” Whoa, right? While I have no issue with folks that do use tarot this way, it isn't my style. In the post, I talk about using tarot: - as a prompt for creative writing and storytelling; - for mindfulness; - to amplify the "inner voice" of your intuition; - to help set your intentions and your goals; and, - to create interesting random encounters and NPCs in your D&D game. Okay, so that last 上 e is a little niche, but it just goes to show you that tarot is so much more than fortune-telling, and is basically a key to unlock so many creative parts of yourself.
