FAULT CURRENT SAFETY
Tri-Tech has the technology, equipment and software to evaluate your facility for fault current safety concerns.
In the past several years, plan reviewers for counties, cities and states have been taking special note of the electrical safety elements associated with equipment fault currents, and for good reason. Many older buildings (20 years and older) were equipped with electrical panels and breakers that were rated for fault currents of 5,000 AIC. As these facilities were expanded, many times these electrical systems were not upgraded, leaving a dangerous situation behind. As building service transformers are increased in size, the fault potential is increased too. This fault that can potentially occur during a short-circuit scenario can cause circuit breakers to explode; causing fires, physical damage or even serious bodily injury.
To know whether your facility needs upgrades, a physical study and series of computer calculations can be completed to verify the fault status of each of your load panels. With this study, you will know which areas are in compliance, and which ones need panel, breaker or fuse replacements.
A simple on-site visual review can be done to get you started. There are several obvious signs of non-compliance, which we can show you. If you would like to find out more about this potential hazard, call Tri-Tech at (937)833-5595.
